vol. 10

summer offering

summer solstice + strawberry moon + midsummer

the strawberry full moon is named by Indigenous Peoples for the time of year when strawberries ripen

the summer solstice is celebrated as a time of abundance

midsummer is a time of magic

ripe magical abundance

when we take a macro-focus, things feel extremely heavy & angsty - there is a genocide continuously being committed in gaza before our eyes, the people of sudan are suffering starvation, & it’s hard to feel celebratory about anything

i think it’s extremely healthy to have both a micro & a macro focus on the systems where we exist. & to celebrate our joys while being potently aware of our own privilege in doing so. how else can we function really? so while we continue to do what’s within our power, & continue to feel the weight of what we witness constantly…

let’s also (not instead) use our micro focus to appreciate the sacredness of celebration - especially while we’re also holding so much disappointment & sorrow

so how do we hold on to that sacred joy? i invite you over this couple minutes / hours / days / weeks / months / whatever chunk of time it takes you, to reflect on these prompts…

  • what, in my own small system, is currently ripening?

  • what around me feels abundant?

  • what magic is in my life right now?

  • at the beginning of the calendar year, did i expect this? hope for it?

  • what habits or behaviors or routines got me here?

  • what feeling does it bring me to reflect on these?

  • in my body, what changes when i really focus on my ripe & abundant things?

  • is there a way to incorporate this joy into my micro focus more often? is there a way to harness that magic?

& then, of course, we can use the joy & energy & momentum we get from these things to join in to fight the larger systems creating sorrow. but for now, please gift yourself a little moment of celebration.

half solar, half lunar, i’ve made you this playlist of songs to celebrate the solstice & the full moon season all at once.

please enjoy & feel free to use it for meditating on your ripening joys, for a yoga practice, or a background while driving…whatever mood it fits!
